AECOM Senior Contracts & Commercial Manager in Amsterdam, Netherlands

Job Summary

AECOM Netherlands is currently hiring a Senior Contracts & Commercial Manager to join our prestigious project; a landmark, twin 30+ floor multistorey towers on a constrained site in Central Amsterdam. The 110 meter towers are respectively i) a five-star hotel and ii) luxury residences.

The Senior Contracts & Commercial Manager will be managing all aspects of a lump sum Design and Build Construction Contract acting as the prime contact focus for the Contractor. Within this role you will manage, and be supported by, the Project Management technical construction team, comprising an MEP & a Fit-out Package Manager, Planner and a Quantity Surveyor.

Responsible for:

  • Manage and lead the project team and assure that the package managers and Quantity surveyor deliver on time and with the right level of quality.

  • Focus of communication, both written and verbal, with the Design and Build Contractor.

  • Proactive management of contractual and legal aspects the Contract.

  • Claims evaluation, management and advise.

  • Overseeing the project cost monitoring and control.

  • Review and assessment of project costs trends proposing corrective actions.

  • Propose Value engineering solutions; providing value & cost advice.

  • Ensuring timely processing of Invoices Payment certificates.

  • Change order management.

  • Chair regular Commercial meetings.

  • Produce monthly Commercial Report.

  • Settlement of final accounts.

  • Leading and Promote to drive the HSE culture amongst all staff, contractors and supply chain.

  • Attend monthly safety meetings, ensure messages are conveyed to the operational staff, manage the safety messages into the projects and audit to give confidence that the safety is being implemented in accordance with client and AECOM HSE processes and procedures. Feedback safety learning’s into the Safety Manager to provide continuous learning for the whole team.

  • Assist the Project Director with the AECOM commercial update through AECOM's internal Project Management system portal.

Minimum Requirements

  • Fluent English and Dutch (German or Italian preferable)

  • In depth knowledge of international conditions of contract (incl. FIDIC yellow book); local experience (UAV/UAV-GC)

  • 20+ years construction industry experience, preferably in building projects

  • High degree of interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Able to motivate and manage a team

  • Customer focus (both internal and external)

  • Effective communicator

  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or other recognized professional institutions

Preferred Qualifications

Experience of high quality hotel fit out construction projects
