Our Streets team has a vacancy for an Associate Director based in our Basingstoke office. The role would suit a highly motivated dynamic individual looking to advance their career leading and growing a business. In addition to delivering work within the local office the role may involve working with other AECOM teams in the UK and Ireland. We are therefore seeking candidates who are able to work flexibly across other AECOM offices as projects dictate to support the wider business.
The Streets team provides concept, preliminary and detailed design and network modelling on a wide range of projects for local authorities and contractors plus supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a specialised traffic and highways interface. Further, the role offers opportunities to work in AECOMs wider European, Middle East, India and Africa regions.
You will be leading a team involved in the delivery of projects and services to a range of both local and national clients including:
WECA, Bristol City Council BaNES, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire
Transport for London
London Highway Alliance Contract
Southwark Highways & Professional Services Contract
Midlands Highways Alliance
Private Contractors working on behalf of Local Authorities
Our large multi-disciplinary office is situated just a few minutes’ walk from the Station and the vibrant town centre which boasts a fantastic range of shopping and eating and drinking establishments. It is also just off the M3 by car with underground staff parking. AECOM offers fully flexible working and would consider the role on either a full or part-time basis and are happy to look at a range of different working patterns including compressed weeks and a degree of home working.
Lead our Basingstoke team, managing career progression of line reports
Establish strong working relationships with clients through business development and being the key point of contact for meetings and client liaison as well as with other internal AECOM teams
Prepare detailed proposals, client briefs, and fee proposals and contribute to major bids as required
Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief
Oversee the preparation of feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs and technical reports for traffic engineering schemes and provide specialist technical contributions as required
Act as a Project Director and Project Manager including monitoring financial performance. Comprehensive training on AECOM’s project management system will be provided
Monitor team skills and resourcing and ensure they are up to date with current best practice, techniques and innovation
Promote a health and safety-focused culture by ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members, and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design
You will have:
A successful track record in the management and delivery of a portfolio of traffic/highway engineering projects through preliminary and/or detailed design stages including an ability to effectively manage project commercial risks
Proven ability of managing and growing a team, with strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and maintain a highly motivated project delivery team
Demonstrable experience in developing business and work winning including preparation of high-quality technical bids and proposals and forming strong client relationships
An ability to demonstrate a high level of experience and technical expertise in Traffic Engineering design
Whilst not essential any of the following skills would be desirable:
Appreciation of traffic modelling
Project Management qualifications (e.g. APM or PRINCE2)
A relevant degree or HND and a Chartered Engineer or membership of a professional institution and working towards an appropriate Chartered status
