Job Summary
Our Air Quality team is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Air Quality Consultant with varied experience, to complement and enhance an established UK team. Location can be flexible, but ideally joining at any of these locations - Basingstoke, Belfast, Birmingham, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham. This position has responsibility for technical leadership and significant business development responsibilities. This post offers excellent career opportunities in a large, friendly and well established team supporting one of the world's largest integrated engineering, construction and technical services organisations. The team numbers approximately 50 air quality and permitting specialists in the UK from a mix of science and engineering backgrounds, with over 500 practitioners worldwide.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate high level atmospheric modelling skills, a clear understanding and knowledge of urban air quality issues, regulatory requirements for emissions to air, ambient monitoring, and have the ability to work well in a team and have excellent communication and report writing skills.
Our UK air quality team delivers a range of exciting and varied projects across Europe, Middle East and Africa region. We work in multi-disciplinary teams delivering solutions to a broad base of client sectors including residential/commercial development, energy, oil and gas, water, manufacturing, government, transportation and infrastructure. There are opportunities to support our clients through the full spectrum of project services including EIA, impact assessment, monitoring, due diligence, occupational exposure assessments, risk management, monitoring and the drafting of good practice guidance.
Our clients are from the private and public sector and include Highways England, TfL, BP, INEOS, Thames Water, Local and national government departments, as well as leading UK contractors and developers.

Local Air Quality Management (LAQM) services for numerous councils

Air quality assessment for Highways England for the Smart Motorway Programme
Air quality assessments for numerous commercial developments
Job Duties:
Technical and commercial leadership
Business development and innovation
Undertaking air quality impact assessments
Use of dispersion modelling to predict air quality impacts using models such as AERMOD and ADMS
Managing ambient and workplace monitoring studies
You will have strong development skills and have the ability to develop and manage the work of others – working in teams is vital to working in AECOM
Have the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance to teach and develop junior staff.
Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team.
Establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams, particularly within AECOM’s transportation division
Responsibility for developing health and safety risk assessments for site work to ensure personal and team safety.
Minimum Requirements
Experience completing air quality assessments for road schemes, residential and commercial developments, LAQM studies.
Permitting and compliance for industrial facilities would be beneficial
You will have previous work experience in a similar role and be enthusiastic with excellent report writing skills.
You will have high level dispersion modelling skills
You will have a good understanding of ambient air quality monitoring
You should be able to demonstrate GIS or programming skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
Degree level in a relevant numerical science or engineering discipline and ideally holding a postgraduate qualification
Full membership of a relevant professional body or certificate of successful completion of professional training, such as IAQM, RMetS; IMechE, BOHS, would also be of interest as evidence of relevant experience.
