Job Summary

AECOM have landscape architecture teams based in Belfast Dublin and Cork and we are looking for a talented landscape architect to join our busy studio in Belfast. You will be part of a growing Landscape, and Planning Team which operates within a large friendly integrated multi-disciplinary design studio. The Belfast team works closely with our other landscape teams in Ireland, England and Scotland.

As a senior professional in our Landscape Architecture studio, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of project types from landscape and visual impact assessment through to the concept design and implementation process. The scope will include preparation of designs using various software, undertaking site work and assessments and working collaboratively across our network of offices.

We enjoy an exceptional team approach working closely with architects, engineers, ecologists, economists, community outreach and other related professionals to develop award winning integrated projects. Our local practice network leverages AECOM’s global presence to address urban and climate changes in the next century and to serve as catalysts for regeneration.

Our team of Landscape Architects deliver a range of exciting and varied projects across UK and Ireland, Europe, Middle East and Africa region. We work in dynamic and challenging environments, in multi-disciplinary teams delivering solutions to a broad base of client sectors including development, energy, oil and gas, water, government and transportation.

We are looking for creative and highly motivated team players that have the ability to integrate with an established Landscape Architecture team and would like to be part of exciting projects on a local and national level.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work within an established team of Landscape Architects in Belfast on a variety of local and international projects including:

  • Landscape design from inception to completion, including town centre/ urban public realm Improvement schemes, parks, business and commercial developments, residential developments, healthcare and education campuses, and transport based landscape projects.

  • Tourism and community projects, including interpretation planning, community-led planning, public consultation, design workshops, village and town appraisals, and public realm design strategies.

In this role you will be responsible for Project Management from inception to completion to include:

  • Manage a small team of Landscape Architects and workload to comply with AECOM Standards for Health &Safety and Quality;

  • Assistance in preparation of tenders/ bids;

  • Financial management of projects;

  • Tasks will include site surveys and analysis, research, public and stakeholder consultation, and production of concept/ detail design, construction drawings and works specifications;

  • Production of high quality presentation drawings and graphics;

  • Production of high quality written reports;

  • Supporting project managers and other staff with other office duties with integrity and flexibility;

  • Organising and managing your professional work responsibly and independently where necessary;

  • Carry out professional work with care, conscientiousness and with proper regard to relevant technical and professional standards.

  • In addition the candidate may be responsible and expected to provide mentor support for Graduate Landscape Architects working towards P2C professional development.

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and excellent report writing skills

  • Good Design Skills with excellent computer and freehand Graphic Presentation skills. (Shortlisted Candidates will be expected to provide examples of work)

  • General IT skills and competence with Microsoft Office software.

  • Proficiency in using AutoCad, and Photoshop.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Sound Plant knowledge

  • Commercial awareness and finance skills including managing project budgets

  • Effective leadership skills

Minimum Requirements

  • This post is open to candidates who have recently become Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (UK), or obtained Full membership of Irish Landscape Institute (ILI) or equivalent with an accredited Institute.

  • Specific experience in acting as lead designer within a multi-disciplinary team and managing Urban Public Realm Design projects to completion is desirable

  • Experience in Client liaison and project management

  • Demonstrate experience of managing people

  • Experience in preparing tender bids

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or Masters in Landscape Architecture accredited by EFLA/IFLA, Landscape Institute (LI) and/or the Irish Landscape Institute (ILI)

  • Full membership of Irish Landscape Institute (ILI) or Chartered membership of the Landscape Institute (UK) or equivalent with an accredited Institute.

  • Full Irish, UK or European driving licence
