AECOM Fullstack Developer (Javascript) in Belfast, United Kingdom

Job Summary

Our UK Visualisation and VR team are currently looking for an experienced Fullstack Javascript developer to support ongoing projects.

The team is expanding to meet the demands of our wide portfolio of projects and clients - from both within the UK and overseas. This role has been created to support our ambition to grow significantly over time, offering significant career progression opportunities within AECOM.. We are looking for an ambitious team player with a strong coding skillset.

The role will be based remotely. You will have relevant experience and proven design and development skills delivering to quality, time, and budget. Your experience will include working as part of the VR team developing a variety of technologies that focus on Javascript development. If you are a self-motivated individual looking to advance your career in a dynamic team environment, then this is an exciting opportunity to join an accomplished team and work on a variety of exciting and innovative projects.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of our industry and be fluent in HTML, CSS and Javascript.

Job Responsibilities:

The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:

  • Develop, maintain and support software applications, predominately for government sector

  • Problem solving thinking - able to understand/analyze user stories and create solution to the business purpose

  • Self-motivated individual and creative thinker who will take ownership of tasks assigned

  • Works under direct supervision

  • Completes work based upon the project schedule

  • Follows documented software development standards and approaches

  • Follows the defined visual style of the application

  • Develops solutions based upon a defined specification and test plan

  • Performs unit testing of their work

  • Learns from peers within the organization

  • Knows or learns to use the tools required for the job assignment

  • Aptitude and ability to translate existing IT understanding to the company's model of software development

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and team-orientated environment

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of front-end web development, including;

  • Fluent in HTML, CSS, Javascript

  • Aware of best practice on optimization on speed, security, scalability and UI/UX

  • Familiar with web application frameworks (e.g. Vue, React)

  • Familiar with CSS pre-processors and JavaScript module bundlers (e.g. webpack)

  • Attention to details and quality

  • Demonstrable experience of server-side web development, including

  • One or more back-end programming languages, e.g. php, node.js

  • Database design and management on one of more varieties, e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, mongoDB

  • Designing and building REST or GraphQL, e.g. strapi

  • Familiar with source control and issue tracking system, e.g. git, JIRA

  • Excellent communication and time management skills

  • Experience on UI/UX with Adobe Photoshop / Illutrator

  • Experience with Linux

  • Experience with modern cloud platform, e.g. Azure or AWS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Degree in Engineering filed
