AECOM has a vacancy for a Senior or Principal Energy Advisory Technical Consultant to join our growing Electricity Transmission & Distribution (T&D) practice based in the UK and Republic of Ireland. The need arises from exciting growth in our work for traditional and non-traditional end-markets.
The focus of the team is large-scale grid infrastructure, grid connections, and private networks, particularly in projects where renewable energy, resilience, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction can support global efforts to combat climate change.
This is broad consultancy role in the electricity T&D sector, and we are happy to consider wide range of relevant technical expertise and experience. You would be skilled or have demonstrable experience in multiple items from the list below:
Good team player and have a client focused mindset.
Experience on energy regulatory projects. This can be anywhere around the world.
Experience in energy innovation projects with transmission and distribution utilities (e.g. NIA/NIC).
Experience on technical due diligence of HV electricity assets (buyer or seller TDD).
HV electricity infrastructure owners engineer experience.
Previous experience with an energy regulator, utility or energy consultancy.
Smart network management.
Cost benefit analysis and feasibility studies for energy assets.
Project management - time, cost, quality, client and contract management.
Experience of high and extra high voltage projects including one or more of the following: feasibility studies, FEED design, detailed design, design assurance, modeling, simulations, site supervision, testing and acceptance.
Being able and willing to adapt to a wide range of different work and technical requirements.
Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
Prepares technical specification sections.
Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Furthermore, with rapid advancement in the way that electrical energy is being used in society, the role requires an inquisitive and innovative mindset, combined with knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies and applications such as DNO Active Network Management, DSO operations, decarbonization of heat, electric vehicle charging, demand-side management, novel network design, and HVDC/MVDC & FACTS schemes.
In addition to the engineering responsibilities, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to participate in other aspects of the engineering of T&D Projects, business development and project management. This may involve managing client interfaces, preparing bids and proposals, and delivering assignments using AECOM’s safety, environmental, quality and project management systems.
Degree in Science, Engineering or any other related subject.
Higher Degree (Masters, PhD) in Electrical or Power Engineering or a related subject.
