About Our Team:
Our Cost Management team in Cambridge are part of the wider East of England Cost Management team delivering all aspects of cost management services. This covers the whole project lifecycle from initial inception, through the design and procurement process and onto the site delivery and commissioning phase. We have secured places on a number of frameworks alongside a core of regular repeat clients. We are looking to expand our team to deliver an exciting mix of projects across a range of sectors including Higher Education for some of the world’s highest-ranking Universities, healthcare, public and private sector science and commercial developments.
As a Cost Manager, you will deliver in all aspects of cost management and quantity surveying from project inception to completion. You will work with an Associate or Director to successfully manage and deliver a number of projects, varying in complexity. Our projects typically range in value from £5m - £50m, with some over £250m. You will drive performance standards through expert communication and effective use of the performance management process. Maintain and develop good relationships with clients, take every opportunity to uphold and increase the profile of the firm as a provider of professional, premium quality services to the construction industry. The role will require a passion for first-class service delivery, implementing best practice and continuous improvement. You may also be required to be responsible for managing and mentoring junior staff to deliver our Cost Management service efficiently and effectively. Core responsibilities include:
Ensure projects are managed and completed efficiently, on time and to the client’s satisfaction.
Be a key interface, and develop strong relationships, with clients.
Provide full Cost Management duties to AECOM clients. Including feasibility estimates, cost planning, procurement advice, value and risk management, post-contract management.
Provide effective support and mentoring to Cost Managers, Graduates and Apprentices, where required.
Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management
Professionally Qualified or working towards Qualification – ideally Chartered Quantity Surveying Status with the RICS, CIOB or other equivalent institution.
Understanding of a variety of project types/sizes/sectors. Education, Healthcare, Science and Commercial sector experience would be advantageous.
Understanding of JCT and NEC standard forms of contract
Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on cost, value and risk, not just cost in isolation.
Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work under own initiative where appropriate working closely with the Management Team in the delivery of some of our highest-profile projects.
