Job Summary

Do you have a passion in BIM delivery with the latest digital tools? Are you a Digital Engineering Technician with strong 3D modelling skills and experience in delivering complex multidisciplinary design deliverables in water engineering projects. We have exciting career roles in our established Water team, based in either Exeter or Bristol, Croydon, Chesterfield or Leeds. We will consider these roles as either a Senior or a Principal depending on your experience.

You will work alongside national digital leads and our local project managers throughout the project design and delivery cycle, responsible for producing high quality design deliverables of water and wastewater utility projects. This exciting opportunity will also allow you to develop your BIM delivery skills through preparing BEP/IMRs and driving the cultural change and adoption throughout the wider delivery team.

The Team:

Our Water team has delivered some of the most high-profile projects in the UK, so your projects and clients will be varied and interesting. Examples of our current projects and clients:

  • Severn Trent Water – AECOM has been appointed on major schemes Lot 1 of Severn Trent Water’s new Design Services Framework for AMP7. Our portfolio of projects in building rapidly.

  • Wessex Water – AECOM has been appointed on several AMP7 frameworks, including the Capital Delivery framework.

  • Thames Water – AECOM has positions across all scales of delivery from Thames Tideway Tunnel to ‘runway 2’ infra and non-infra schemes across the Thames region.

You will join our technical discipline team and wider technical practice network, enabling you to build your knowledge, skills and career with like-minded Digital Designers globally.

The Role:

As a Digital Engineering Technician, you will work closely with our Water and other supply discipline teams both locally and nationwide. You will be expected to deliver high quality design deliverables, implement digital process and technologies within the office, chair BIM coordination/design reviews and be instrumental upskilling the wider team in digital design solutions.

You will see delivery through from conception to handover. Some of these projects will be large-scale and prestigious cv-builders. You will also be required to contribute to and attend industry events and conferences.

  • Works under general direction.

  • Responsible for providing leadership and direction of specific BIM technologies to assigned project teams.

  • Develops technical solutions to wide range of difficult problems.

  • Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

  • Perform complex assignments involving the use of multiple application platforms and complex systems including Revit software to achieve set results and deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

Required Skills and Experience

  • Detailed knowledge of Autodesk technology stack ie Civil 3D, Revit, Naviswork etc

  • Working Knowledge of CIC BIM Protocol, ISO 19650 and related BIM standards

  • Experience with Common Data Environments (CDE) ProjectWise or BIM360 preferred.

  • Significant experience in technical delivery of large scale water engineering projects with multi-disciplinary knowledge.

Preferred skills and experience

  • Experience with Bentley software stack ie Microstation, OpenPlant, etc

  • 4D modelling experience utilising Synchro in particular

  • Ability to coordinate, liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders

  • Provide mentoring, guidance and technical advice to support and supervise junior staff

  • Lead and mentor a small team of technicians with line manager responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering or related subject
