Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking a Mechanical/Electrical focused BIM/CAD Technician to be based in Leeds. You will be working on a wide range of building services projects including; industrial, commercial, healthcare, military, residential, new build and refurbishment. You will be in charge of drafting and modelling, administration, report writing and you will act as an expert and point of contact with internal teams and occasionally external clients.

Job Responsibilities:

Work with other expects and clients as a point of contact and expertise

  • Liaison with external and internal client teams

  • Assisting with CAD/BIM set-ups, including liaising with clients and architects regarding BIM protocols and standards

  • Participate in project progress reviews and be confident to discuss design issues within a multi-discipline environment

  • Mentoring less experienced members of the CAD/BIM team

Draft and model.

  • Preparation and coordination of CAD drawings and BIM models

  • Preparation and coordination of Building Services drawings and details

  • Modelling 3D MEP services on various projects using Revit MEP for producing Zones, plant, corridors, distribution layouts, also creating sheets and schedules

  • Production of 2D and 3D design models using industry standard modelling applications from Bentley and Autodesk

  • Use of LoD and the requirements required to align Models accordingly to the appropriate LoD

Create reports and administration

  • Preparing technical supporting data for specifications, reports and clash detection reports etc

  • Responsible for administering document control and ensuring compliance with AECOM policies

  • Ensure compliance to the appropriate company CAD/BIM standards and protocol

  • To understand and apply BIM standard protocols from design teams BEP document

  • Use of BS1192 relevant standards

  • Apply policies relating to company standards & procedures, health & safety, quality, and training

  • Liaison and contribute positively with the wider AECOM BIM Community to advance skills and service offer

Minimum Requirements

  • Significant experience in the preparation of Building Services drawings & BIM models

  • A background involving Building Services with Consultancies

  • Mechanical/Electrical AutoCAD and Revit experience essential (project Revit experience)

  • Microsoft Office suite software experience

  • Experience with Model reviewing and clash detection software such as Naviswiorks/BIM360

Preferred Qualifications

  • A relevant degree or HND/HNC qualification.

  • Autodesk Certified Professional, Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD

  • Experience of working as a BIM/CAD Technician within a Building Services team

  • Experience and knowledge of Revit would be preferable

  • Experience and knowledge of CIBSE guides, Building Regs, BSRIA, RIBA plan of work stages etc

  • Coordination, scheduling and clash detection experience is preferable

  • Working knowledge and experience of BS1192 relevant standards would be preferable

  • Ideally will you will be a Chartered Technician or you will be working towards an appropriate chartered status with membership of a professional institution
