Our Transportation team currently have a vacancy for a Senior Traffic Engineer with experience of traffic engineering / management scheme design. AECOM are currently expanding our Local Roads Team in London following several major project wins across the UK and Europe.
The successful candidate will be recently chartered or working to achieve this status and will have proven design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget. They will have experience of working as part of project teams developing detailed design for traffic engineering and urban realm schemes. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team. We would consider the role on either a full or part-time basis and are happy to look at a range of different working patterns.
The team is located in Croydon, one of the fastest growing areas in London, with excellent transport links to Central London. Our modern office has multi-disciplinary design and planning capability.
The team provides concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed design as well as associated scheme assessment services on a wide range of traffic engineering projects and also supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a highway interface. Our Local Roads team is involved in a number of high profile projects with a variety of clients and also comprises traffic modelling and detailed design expertise
We are now looking to enhance and grow this team. This role will suit individuals who have a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload and clients.

Southwark Highways and Professional Services Contract
Thames Tideway Tunnel
Riyadh Metro in Saudi Arabia
London Highway Alliance Contract
The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the Job/ Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standards
Leading detailed design projects and taking responsibility for the contribution of junior staff.
Acting as a Technical Lead or Project Manager, including monitoring of financial and team performance.
Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief.
Liaise and work with contractors and carry out site supervision.
Undertaking Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling Safety-in-Design requirements.
Line managing, mentoring and supervising staff in the performance of their duties.
Preparation of fee proposals and major bids.
Act as a project and programme manager and contribute to Contract KPI’s
Sharing knowledge and supporting team managers in mentoring junior staff.
Demonstrate experience and knowledge of developing detailed design solutions to traffic engineering problems.
Knowledge and experience in the following aspects: cycling design (Quietway experience desirable), traffic calming, speed limit assessments, drainage, junction design, and footway and carriageway improvement design.
Familiarity and knowledge of pavement materials, design and detailing of road improvement schemes in accordance with SHW and DMRB
Proven ability of leading single and multi-disciplined projects as Project Manager / Task Leader.
Experience of dealing directly with Clients, Local Authorities and Key Stakeholders.
Demonstrate an awareness of project management and project planning.
Understanding of Health and Safety requirements including CDM responsibilities.
Excellent technical and communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
You will have a relevant degree and will be a Chartered Engineer or will be working towards an appropriate Chartered status with membership of a professional institution.
BSc, BEng or MEng degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject
