AECOM Project Controls Manager in Den Haag, Netherlands

Job Summary

We are currently seeking for a Project Controls Manager to work in a team delivering project management and construction management in an international environment.

The main task of the Project Controls Manager is to ensure that projects are running within the confines of the main contract and budget limitations, including progress reports to the Project Director.

Financial savviness is important, it will be expected that you not only manage correct execution of the contracts but are also responsible and assure that all aspects of the contract are lived, delivered and respected; operational, KPI and financially. In addition we expect you to advise the team and project director, asked and unasked, on any developments you see in execution of the contract. You will support in managing the execution of all contracts, as well towards the client and contractor.

In this position you will report to the project director and will act as deputy during absence, in this role you will liaise with (but not limited to):

  • AECOM staff: Project Director, Project Managers, Construction Managers, QHSE Manager, Planner/Scheduler and Document Controllers

  • Other AECOM staff outside the Project (as required)

  • Contractor’s and Sub-contractor’s staff as required

  • Client’s staff as required

Main Responsibilities

Financial & Contracts

  • Provides project control services for the project, particularly financial planning, reporting and compliance. You will, informally act as “internal auditor” for sub contracts and projects to makes sure all is executed as contractually agreed. You are process driven and will be able to translate queries, requirements and developments into new (or amend) project management processes and will make sure that systems and control measures are in place for the project control and reporting for delivery of the project to the required program. As part of the reporting you will be in charge of the monthly reporting submission to client, change register, risk register and regular cost reporting.

  • Ensure management of the process of Value Engineering and ensure that the program effect of all Change Orders is identified as required.

  • Make sure that there is a program in place that covers the process of handover of the completed project(s) to the operator(s), and Client(s) as may be required. This includes but is not limited to, creation of financial statement, project accounting and create cashflow overview.

  • Conduct risk assessments to avoid any negative exposure.

Reporting and Planning

  • Monitors and provides support in updating the programme and ensures that the Project Director, Client and Contractor(s) are aware of necessary key critical actions/decisions in a timely way.

  • Review and report to Project Director, responsible for the monthly progress reports including identifying key critical issues, areas of concern and recommended plans of actions. Updates and includes the change register, risk register and cost reporting into the monthly report.

  • Compliance with AECOM procedures, Project Management Plan (PMP), Instructions from the Project Director, Procurement register and Client procedures

  • Participate and support contract meetings: (Senior) Staff Meetings, Commercial meetings and Progress & programme.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimal Bachelor degree analytical direction

  • Minimum 8 to 10 years’ relevant experience

  • Project and contract management experience

  • Proven Financial and cost reporting experience

  • Process driven

  • Analytical

  • Fluency in English

  • Project and contract management experience in delivering construction projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • VCA

  • Fluency in Dutch

  • Planning experience

  • Software: Primavera
