AECOM Principal Ecologist in Dublin, Ireland

Ireland - Dublin, Dublin

Job Summary

AECOM – winners of the 2019 Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management ‘Large Consultancy of the Year’ award – is seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Ecology Team based in our modern office in Dublin. The office is located within a 5-minute walk of the seafront in the beautiful suburb of Dun Laoghaire.

Whether you’re a technical expert with a specialism in a particular species or group, or you’re a generalist who enjoys working on a range of projects, we can provide the platform to create and shape your role. We are particularly interested in someone with a strong background in project management, bidding and client relationship building that can help to support and grow our team in Ireland. As a Principal Ecologist, you’ll be reliable, hard-working and pro-active, in order to help you manage a busy workload. You’ll have extensive knowledge developed over the course of your career, and experience of a wide range of projects. You’ll have good project management and report-writing skills, and some experience of line-managing individuals. A keen eye for detail is essential.

The Ecology Team in Ireland comprises five full-time Ecologists, and we work closely with colleagues based in Northern Ireland and Scotland, and as part of the wider UK team of more than 160 passionate and skilled ecological experts. Our Ecologists work in terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments on some of the most exciting and high-profile projects in the country. We provide clients with the full range of ecological services including specialist habitat and species surveys, impact assessment, and providing advice on biodiversity mitigation, offsetting and enhancement. AECOM is at the forefront of developing Biodiversity Net Gain and Natural Capital Accounting.

Whilst working as a small team in Ireland, AECOM Ecologists benefit from the unique benefits of our scale – not available in other consultancies – and, with access to an extensive skillset, we support and encourage professional growth and development. We operate a Freedom to Grow programme, with freedom ranging from choosing the time, place and type of work we do, through to the workstyle we choose to deploy and the way we communicate and think. The guiding principle of Freedom to Grow is that if it works for you, your team and for our client, then it works for AECOM and you have the permission to do it!
