AECOM Associate Director, Transport Planner Development (flexible working) in Galway Technology Park, Ireland
AECOM Transportation is seeking an Associate Director to lead the Development Transport Planning team based in the Republic of Ireland. We are flexible with the location being based in Dublin, Cork and Galway offices. We at AECOM offer flexible working as well as multiple career pathways whether they be structured or unstructured. The successful candidate must have a proven track record in a similar position and will be part of the Transportation Consulting management team with a focus on growing the business, project delivery and team management within the Republic of Ireland. Our Development Transport Planning team work on projects in Ireland and continental Europe. These are frequently multi-disciplinary projects, undertaken in collaboration with colleagues from across AECOM.
Our Development teams work with private and public sector clients, architects, planners and other property professionals across all sectors throughout the development life cycle; providing services from site feasibility through to completion. We undertake transport assessments, travel plans, support our environmental colleagues in preparing environmental impact assessments, and provide key transport inputs to the development of travel demand management strategies, spatial plans and masterplans
Development Planning clients include multinational technology companies, property developers, house builders, retailers, the National Development Finance Agency, the Land Development Agency, universities, local authorities and contractors.
Leading business development and work winning in the Republic of Ireland for development clients;
Expanding the AECOM Development Transport Planning business and taking responsibility for delivering the business targets;
Liaising with current and proposed clients to develop repeat and new business for the company;
Establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams within AECOM particularly the development planning teams in Northern Ireland and Great Britain and the local Transport Planning team;
Take overall responsibility for delivery of projects to contractual arrangements and the financial outcome agreed;
Facing and liaising with senior stakeholders, including the clients’ project directors (or equivalent) to resolve issues early and safeguard our interests;
Presenting to clients and key stakeholders in a professional, responsive and client focused manner;
Undertake Health and Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design;
Mentoring and supporting the development of team members
Act as a Project Manager/Director (once accredited) as necessary including monitoring financial performance;
Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief;
Attend Project Progress meetings along with necessary client meetings; and
Prepare detailed client briefs or fee proposals for client submission and contribute to major bids
Successful track record of building client relationships and identifying, pursuing and winning work;
A highly motivated individual with a passion for succeeding and the potential to develop an industry-leading transportation team;
Solid experience working at a senior level;
A senior professional with proven experience in the successful delivery of transportation planning projects for both public and private sector clients;
Experience in the preparation of development-related transport assessments, travel plans and access studies, with some wider experience in policy implementation, modelling, masterplanning and/or technical design
High degree of competence in project management and commercially aware;
Excellent communicator (both written and verbal) with good negotiation skills.
A degree in an analytical subject such as engineering, geography, mathematics, economics, planning or similar.
Membership of a relevant professional institution (CIHT, CILT, TPS, ICE, IPI, etc).
A masters degree in a relevant subject is desirable but is not essential
