Job Summary

The AECOM Water business has an immediate requirement for a Senior CAD Technician to join our Caledonia Water Alliance team in Stepps (Glasgow). The requirement is for a Senior Technician with experience in contributing within an integrated multi-disciplinary team delivering services for the water industry on water projects for the municipal and industrial sectors.

The successful candidate will be an experienced CAD technician specifically with Autodesk Civils 3D and will have extensive experience on a variety of projects. You will have a proven level of experience of delivering projects to client’s satisfaction at the appropriate standard, ensuring accuracy of models and drawings, ensuring that the relevant codes and standards are complied with. You will have strong development skills and the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance and to teach others.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to deliver a high standard of CAD design outputs to support the team to deliver the detailed designs of potable water mains and networks for a challenging framework of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Civil 3D presentation and model files

  • Preparation of CAD deliverables for multiple projects to completion within budget

  • Effectively manage own time across multiple projects and undertake CAD duties unsupervised

  • Attend and contribute to design team meetings

  • Advise and mentor junior CAD colleagues

  • Comply with quality policies for project delivery

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum post qualification experience in the AEC industry, specifically water and pumping stations

  • Experienced user of both Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D essential, including pipeline design, earthworks, road designs

  • Working knowledge of CIC BIM Protocol, BS 1192 and related standards

  • ProjectWise knowledge would be an advantage although not essential

  • Ability to work on own initiative as an experienced CAD operator, in conjunction with civil and structural design engineers.

  • A good team player confident to liaise with other staff locally and across the global business

  • Able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills, and have the ability to interface effectively with external stakeholders.

  • An understanding of industry standards

  • Extensive experience of water based civil engineering projects.

  • Commitment to continued professional development

Preferred Qualifications

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering; or HNC CAD with experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D
