Job Summary

The AECOM Buildings and Places Scotland business has an opportunity for a suitably experienced Civils Design Engineer to join the Infrastructure North team in our Glasgow office.

The successful Civils Design Engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary office which offers a range of services including Civil & Infrastructure Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical/Ground Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Building Services and Building Surveying.

The Infrastructure North team offers a variety of exciting and challenging projects including Developer lead Commercial, Regeneration, Educational and Healthcare projects (both private and public sector), Renewables projects within the Power and Energy Sector and MOD projects within the Defence Sector and you’ll be working with an experienced and settled team working across all the sectors.

You will be involved in a range of day to day duties including deign and delivery of the aforementioned projects, supervising team of technicians/graduates, with allocation and monitoring of tasks, liaison with Clients, Stakeholders and Utility Agents, delivering and managing designs. Design Engineers within our Infrastructure North department are also encouraged to visit their sites, see their work and develop into more rounded/complete professionals, taking on more responsibility as their experience develops.

Minimum Requirements

  • Working knowledge of all main civil engineering design software packages, incl Micro Drainage and ground profiling using recognised software (Civils 3D).

  • Competency in use of AutoCAD on civil engineering projects would be an advantage, while not critical to role.

  • Site supervisory responsibilities with knowledge of the NEC3 Supervisor role considered an advantage.

  • Key responsibilities in leading projects and team in roads and drainage design, including a sound understanding of utility provision and general civil engineering practises

  • Possess excellent written skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients verbally

  • High levels of motivation and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision and fronting Client facing aspects of projects with a desire to build client relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent accredited by a professional engineering institution such as the Institution of Civil Engineers, or undertaking any industry recognised part-time equivalents.
