AECOM is currently seeking to hire a Chartered Building Surveyor to be based in Leeds.

We are looking to appoint a Chartered Building Surveyor to our Leeds office where you will have a great opportunity to progress your career. Our National Building Surveying team deliver as one 70 strong unit and specialise in multi-disciplinary design services on refurbishment schemes, condition and asset surveys, Technical Due Diligence and Dilaps. Therefore, we are looking for a candidate with a broad Building Surveying background that will complement our current team and services alongside striving to expand and build the Leeds team, supporting work winning and client management in the private and public sector.

Job Duties:

  • Lead on individual Building Surveying, Project Management, and Contract Administration commissions.

  • Fully involved in or managing others for the production of drawings, specifications and tender documents.

  • Survey and Report writing for the full range of typical core professional Building Surveying services.

  • Construction monitoring and snagging assessments.

  • Client development skills to develop business with existing clients and confidence to win new work.

  • Continuous improvement to our standards, processes and knowledge to deliver to our core clients.

  • Mentoring and developing Assistant Building Surveyors and other team members.

  • Establish client briefs, appropriate fees, and cost control through to completion.

  • Financial, commercial and risk management from project inception through to completion on own projects.

Experience:

  • Experience in all core Building Surveying work areas especially design and contract administration.

  • Experience of working in and project managing multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Excellent client and team interpersonal skills.

  • Manages and coordinates all phases of multiple surveying projects at once.

  • Writes proposals and markets projects to prospective clients.

  • Project manages own projects and those of junior staff.

  • Reviews, develops and implements new technologies and legislation, as appropriate.

  • Takes responsibility for all aspects of financial management, including invoicing clients for own projects.

  • Performs a variety of senior level tasks with minimal supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • Have extensive experience of all aspects of surveying from design work to condition surveys, feasibilities, and contract administration

  • Review, quality manage and approve the preparation of schedules of work, specifications and detailed drawings and tender packages

  • Preparation of Schedules of Work and Specifications for all types of maintenance and construction projects

  • Experience working and building relationships within the private and public sector

  • Produce feasibility and concept reports

  • Management of sub consultants and contractors

  • Manage the delivery of contract administration services

  • Manage and monitor fees, profits and invoicing

  • Promote the RICS APC and support staff through their APC

Preferred Qualifications

  • Be educated to at least degree level or equivalent, in a Building Surveying RICS accredited degree.

  • Have post Chartership experience.

  • Have excellent client facing experience.

  • Have an open willingness to support developing surveyors and respond to their questions.

  • Be a strong leader and communicator.

  • Be a role model to the team, setting high standards and expectations.
