AECOM Controllership Manager UK&I in Liverpool, United Kingdom

Job Summary

The Controllership Manager is a key role within the Internal Reporting team and the broader controllership team. The role engages across a number of finance functions within the business including operational finance, tax, R2A, Corporate support functions (IT, Real Estate, Pensions, Treasury) and the external reporting team. They are responsible for supporting the month end process which requires evaluation and understanding of current business trends, acting as advisor to team members to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems, managing the indirect tax reporting, analysis and management of CTA provisions and recommending/implementing continuous improvement. The role requires a client-focused mind-set as well as strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive process and efficiency improvements

  • Execute and manage standard processes across all locations and ensure consistent performance

  • Promote and participate in an environment that maximizes productivity and service effectiveness, professional development, open communication and teamwork

  • Initial scope of activities may include:

  • Month end and quarter end close reporting activities

  • Identify and communicate risks and opportunities for monthly tracking

  • Participation in GEO overhead forecasting

  • Lead and coordinate quarterly corporate instructions review call with regional controllership and liaise with corporate on changes

  • Group reporting responsibilities including production and review of deliverables;

  • Indirect Taxes management involving VAT, R&D Tax and Withholding Tax;

  • Management of offshore controllership resource;

  • Business restructures/acquisition/disposal;

  • Support monthly self-testing of reconciliations, providing feedback including suggestions for improvement

  • Support with foreign exchange analysis

  • Support year end statutory reporting

  • Ensure full compliance with Sarbanes Oxley controls and AECOM Internal Audit requirements

  • Participate and contribute to the success of both internal and external audits

  • Timely completion of all responsibilities and submission into Blackline

Minimum Requirements

  • Extensive work experience in a balance sheet focussed finance environment

  • Coaching and/or mentoring experience

  • Experience in working in multi-national / listed environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills essential

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to thrive under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations

  • Ability to actively engage stakeholders ensuring processes are implemented and executed consistently

  • Must be pro-active and demonstrate ability to see things through to the end

  • Prioritise and focus on key issues

  • Attention to detail

  • Works independently as well as part of a team; willingness to work with multiple different colleagues on variety of tasks

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience with Oracle or similar ERP system preferable but not essential

  • Excellent Excel skills and accounting system experience
