Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious and highly motivated Senior Planning Consultant with demonstrable knowledge of the various principles of delay analysis, as well as preparation of delay claims, management of disputes and demonstrable ability in assessing the time impact of compensation events.

The Senior Consultant in a Planning / Delay role will be a key member of our team and provide services across a range of sectors for a variety of clients. The role includes project planning, project controls and delay analysis services across the full project lifecycle.

We are looking for innovative thinkers who are keen to engage and “Make Complex look Simple”, and as such, get involved in the AI revolution of Project Controls.

The Senior Planning Consultant will work as part of our Integrated Program Controls Team (IPC), which is composed of Schedule, Risk, Project Controls and Analytics.

Experience

  • Experienced in delay analysis and have well-developed client-facing skills. Outstanding time management, excellent IT, and verbal communication skills.

  • Rigorous in following documented processes and governance and will be able to demonstrate the ability to innovate in creative ways to meet the challenges of a changing project environment.

  • The candidate must have the ability and willingness to assist in coaching and developing the Planning team. The successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK.

  • Able to create a robust, contract compliant resourced project baseline programme with the experience of managing projects and their stakeholders on major high-profile projects across the energy, defence, rail, airports, highways, water and utilities sectors.

  • Commercially aware and able to make sound decisions in order to maximise fee earning potential and utilisation.

  • Able to demonstrate the ability to own large processes with minimal oversight and will be accountable for leading the team to achieve results in line with business objectives.

Client focused and will understand the benefits of different communication methods and will effectively communicate with the client to ensure their needs are understood.

Able to implement collaboration techniques and lead workshops to develop meaningful project plans.

Able to make autonomous decisions guided by policies, procedures and business objectives.

Ability to capture lessons learned and communicate them to the team as well as develop case studies to ensure knowledge transfer.

Able to apply CAM (Client Account Management) approach to manage all project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Leads planning services multi-disciplinary teams, reviewing and reporting on all aspects of projects.

  • Writing, editing, and preparing client reports as well as reviewing programming or delay situations and advising clients accordingly.

  • Acting as a role model and mentor to other AECOM employees through training, development and performance management.

  • Provides support to Associates and Directors.

  • Promoting oneself with professional institutions.

  • Supporting AECOM business development initiatives and events.

  • Provides analysis of schedule data to identify key project issues. Provides analysis of schedule data to identify key project issues.

  • Supports the development of plans and schedules for proposals.

  • Track corrective actions.

  • Assists in coordination of schedule input from all parts of the organization.

  • Able to identify and assist in analysis of project schedule variances. Identifies and analyzes schedule variances and recommends associated corrective action.

  • Updates and produces scheduling management reports.

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of WBS and helps insure that project coding is effectively used for all cornerstone applications.

  • Able to use drawings and specifications for schedule development.

  • Expert ability to develop CPM schedule logic for engineering, procurement and construction as well as command of cornerstone scheduling system.

  • Able to resource load schedule and perform remedial schedule risk analysis.

  • Responsible for collating data for schedule updating and ensure accuracy

  • Reviews purchase orders and subcontract schedule status and provides management with input on subcontract performance.

  • Knowledgeable of scope control and change management and has demonstrated ability to incorporate directed changes into schedule baseline. Knowledgeable in earned value methodology.

  • Conducts or assists in performance measurement and associated schedule trends.

  • Leads project planning and scheduling review meetings.

  • Assists in procedure development and implementation.

  • Developing a manageable WBS in accordance with the Scope Of Works

  • Developing and maintains schedule narrative and Basis Of Schedule documents for Best Practice

  • Responsible to ensure that the schedule is Contract Compliant, and engages in Change Management

  • Leads collaborative planning workshops to ensure buy-in from overall project team.

  • Refer to drawings and specifications for the establishment of project baseline data.

  • Implements and leads progress and performance data and ensures accurate progress data is captured effectively.

  • Scope control, change management and risk management (QSRA)

  • Perform impact analysis and monitors schedule variance.

  • Collates data for trending and forecasting (S curves)

  • Able to conduct Schedule Quality checks and participate in Peer Reviews

Qualifications

  • Degree-educated with a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience.

  • Solid background in pre and post-contract project planning (NEC experience required) using Asta Power Project or Primavera P6 software

  • Experience within either the civil, building or process sectors.
