Job Description

Are you an Associate Cost Manager looking to work on building projects that can change the world, projects that are always more complex and innovative than the last?

If so, we are looking for an Associate Cost Manager/Quantity Surveyor to join our London office, to work in our Workplace and Fit-out Team, providing a comprehensive, accurate and value driven service across a variety of high profile and exciting projects for key clients.

Landmark projects include:

Soho Place, 1 Triton Square, White Collar Factory, Bloomberg HQ, Battersea Power Station Phase 3, Greenwich Peninsula, the Sky Campus in Osterley and residential scheme at the old Lots Road Power Station. We deliver workplace and retail schemes for numerous Clients such as Derwent London, British Land, Jaguar Land Rover, Apple, M+S and John Lewis. We have delivered some of the most prestigious international projects including Commercial Towers in Bogota and the new Abu Dhabi International Airport Terminal. We are fortunate enough to be on numerous Public Sector frameworks, giving us access so a wide variety of both Central Government and Local Authority schemes together with a wide mix of Health and Education projects. Our team is augmented by specialist MEP, Utilities and façade QS’s to ensure we deliver all of our clients a first-class service.

About Our Team:

Our Team in London consists of 130 cost managers, working across various sectors and is part of our wider 500 strong UK+I Cost Management team.

We are friendly, busy and motivated with an established track record of successfully delivering local and overseas projects.

The Workplace Solutions & Fit-out team are part of the wider London Cost Management team delivering all aspects of cost management services, covering the whole project lifecycle from initial inception / business case through to completion / commissioning and are looking to expand our team to deliver an exciting mix of projects across a range of sectors and clients.

Job Responsibilities:

As an Associate Cost Manager working within the wider team, you will lead and deliver in all aspects of cost management and quantity surveying from project inception to completion. You will work with an Associate or Director to successfully manage and deliver a number of projects, varying in complexity and value. You will drive performance standards through expert communication and effective use of the performance management process. Maintain and develop good relationships with clients, take every opportunity to uphold and increase the profile of the firm as a provider of professional, premium quality services to the construction industry. You will also be responsible for managing and mentoring junior staff to deliver our Cost Management service efficiently and effectively. Core responsibilities include:

  • Feasibility estimates

  • Procurement advice

  • Cost planning

  • Value and risk management

  • Post contract management

  • Change Management

  • JCT Contract Administration

  • Fee generation

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management

  • Professionally Qualified – ideally Chartered Quantity Surveying Status with the RICS or other equivalent institution.

  • Understanding of a variety of project types/sizes/sectors.

  • Office Fit-out or Workplace Solutions experience would be advantageous.

  • Understanding of JCT standard forms of contract

  • Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on cost, value and risk, not just cost in isolation.

  • Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience of working as part of integrated, multi-organisation, collaborative teams

  • Experience of working within a client organization, either directly or through a co-location/secondment arrangement would be of benefit

Preferred Experience:

  • A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning

  • Ideally you will live locally to the office or be willing to relocate

  • Ability to manage multiple projects for a variety private sector clients.

  • Prior line-management experience
