You will support the team in developing a pipeline of new business opportunities, preparing winning proposals, and delivering our portfolio of projects.
AECOM seeks a passionate, energetic, detail-oriented person who can take on and lead tasks related to new business research, and proposal management. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about delivering results in developing economies, and interested in economic development. The role would ideally suit someone who has some international development experience and is passionate about taking on more responsibility as the team matures.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities of the role:
Build, track and maintain pipeline of upcoming projects in target markets; Complete appropriate desk-based (or in-country) research on client’s needs and priorities; write up findings for the use in business development activities and proposals.
Research and keep abreast of DFID and other donors’ activities together with their programming and policy changes, actively developing relationships and searching for opportunities where AECOM can brand and position itself in the market.
Develop relationships with potential partners and prospective experts to create a winning proposition;
Supporting the development of technical and financial proposals by establishing the value proposition of AECOM and leading the management of bid processes, making sure that bid team members remain informed of process milestones and have access to relevant information throughout the bidding process.
Actively expand our portfolio of consultants and build partnerships to deliver work.
Support the development of budgets for complex projects.
Contribute to lesson learning initiatives, such as bid reviews.
Become a subject matter expert in areas of economic development.
Support and develop communication with colleagues in other departments and build a broad knowledge of the specialist skills within AECOM.
Support discrete tasks for our large programmes in line with AECOM requirements, to include technical and financial delivery.
Undertake field-based project delivery.
Lead research initiatives as part of project delivery.
Play key role in project and programme reviews to contribute to continuous learning.
Prior experience working with bilateral or multilateral aid agencies, ideally within the UK Government
Previous experience in business development for international development projects, preferably DFID or the FCO.
A highly motivated individual with a genuine interest in economic and private sector development, with an appreciation for infrastructure and urban development, energy, water, climate change, and/or trade and investment.
Willingness and ability to undertake international travel, notably in developing countries
Advanced skills in planning and delivering results as well as communication and knowledge management
Ability to thrive in a pressured and ability to work towards tight timelines.
Ability to develop innovative solutions and exhibit innovative thinking.
Outstanding written English, and excellent communication skills, including demonstrable experience in persuasive writing. Fluency in other languages (e.g. French, Spanish and Portuguese) is an asset.
Strong ability to build effective credible professional relationships and networks, and to manage stakeholders.
Strong financial literacy.
Excellent computer skills, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint. High level of emotional intelligence (self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationship management)
Experience of working in a developing country an advantage
- Master’s degree in relevant field.
