Job Description

The Structural Technician will be able to deliver projects and work to set deadlines with moderate supervision. They will demonstrate strong communication and personal effectiveness skills, with the ability to maintain effective working relationships at all levels. Proven experience in structural Revit/BIM modelling, including the delivery of structural projects.

Knowledge and experience of modelling reinforced concrete, masonry, steelwork and timber framed buildings desirable.

Experience of co-ordinating building structures models with the other disciplines (Architect and MEP engineer etc).

An awareness of cloud-based applications for sharing/reviewing models (ACC / BIM360).

Develop and manage BIM data rich models to meet the required BIM use including design document production and co-ordination, under broad direction from the project team or Project Manager and moderate support from the BIM Leads.

3D Models should be of sufficient integrity to enable accurate scheduling, and able to create high quality detailed documentation.

Manage and document control in-coming/out-going models & drawing information, using project extranets and CDE’s, to comply with the project requirements.

Attend BIM Coordination meetings (Initially supporting the BIM Lead before eventually taking ownership).Manage their workload and be accountable for ensuring that deliverables are of the necessary quality expected of them.

Ensuring proper QA/QC protocols are implemented.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to implement BIM Execution Plans and BIM Standards with moderate support.Ability to prepare models, drawings and details fit for purpose.

Knowledge and experience of authoring applications such as such as Revit.

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Awareness of Eurocodes, British standards and other relevant national and international industry standards and procedures.

Awareness of UK BIM Framework, ISO19650 suite of documents and relevant PAS 1192 documents to allow implementation of AECOM best practice procedures and protocols.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

The ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances whilst maintaining a clear view of overall priorities.

The ability to work under pressure and ensure deadlines are met, whilst delivering high quality work.

The ability to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and clients.

The ability to work as part as a team both collaboratively and co-operatively.

Desirable Skills and Interest

Project delivery and attention to detail.

Design coordination

BIM applications – Revit, Navisworks, BIM360/ACCAn Interest in exploring further BIM dimensions such as Time/Cost/Sustainability etc.

An interest in computational BIM (Dynamo/Rhino/Grasshopper)

An interest in achieving IStructE & EngTech status

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Relevant qualification such as HNC, but not essential.
