We are looking to recruit a Principal Transport Modeller within our Transport Planning Business in our Manchester city centre office. The Transport Planning team is expanding to meet the demands of our wide portfolio of clients – from both within the UK and overseas. This role has been created to meet existing demands, including multiple major framework successes in the last 12 months, and also our significant growth aspirations in the region. We are seeking a talented individual with a proven track record in transport modelling.
Our Manchester city centre office is part of our North West Transport Planning team, which currently comprises over 60 staff. The team are fully integrated into AECOM’s wider North West multi-disciplinary business of over 700 staff.
We have an exciting and extensive portfolio of projects in the North West for major clients including TfGM, Highways England, TfN and HS2 as well as all major local government bodies such as Merseytravel, Warrington and Cheshire West and the Greater Manchester districts. We undertake a wide range of services for Manchester Airport Group and also public transport operators in the region.
As a Principal Transport Modeller in Manchester, you will:
Manage projects, including the production of analysis and associated outputs, ensuring outputs are delivered on time and to an excellent standard;
Be comfortable liaising with clients and providing expert advice and support;
Be directly responsible for individuals within the office;
Provide updates to project managers/directors in terms of the progress of tasks in line with programmes;
Provide direction and technical advice to junior project team members, taking a proactive role in developing team members to their full potential;
Work closely with the wider business both locally and across the country;
Have an analytical mind and background;
Be good at managing your time to ensure you meet deadlines;
Have strong technical and report writing skills; and
Be able to explain technical concepts to others, including colleagues and clients.
Have in-depth knowledge and experience in transport modelling and forecasting and experience in appraisal and evaluation of transport proposals;
Have used, and have good knowledge, of modelling software packages such as SATURN, VISUM, CUBE and EMME and understand the relative merits of different types of modelling approach;
Membership or working towards membership of a chartered professional institution such as CIHT, TPS, CILT or ICE
A Master’s degree or PhD in Transport Planning or related subject / discipline
