Our Infrastructure Project Management team is looking to hire a Project Manager (PM) to work in partnership with our framework and private sector clients across the UK. This is a permanent role for an established APM qualified Project Manager who will work on infrastructure construction projects from the client side.

Although this is a direct and permanent vacancy with AECOM we will be making our hiring decisions via approval from our clients, as these vacancies can sometimes work in a similar way to secondments. This means our recruitment process may be longer than the norm and that offers will only be made with approval from both parties.

About The Role

You will provide a comprehensive, accurate and value driven service for large, high profile and exciting key infrastructure clients. The role will include all aspects of project management across the project lifecycle from the initial inception, feasibility, design and procurement stages and onto the site delivery/commissioning phase of projects.

We are current looking for established Project Managers with a track record of construction consultancy or direct client experience within Water, Rail or Highways. Other infrastructure experience will be considered but is not a preference as our immediate project work is centred on these three specialties.

Your Duties will Include

  • Supporting your team with Project Management Commissions, managing all phases of projects from beginning to close out, taking responsibility for their successful delivery

  • Provide oversight / strategic guidance /audit & review, to a portfolio of projects being led within the cost centre

  • Ensure commissions are managed to the right quality standards and are completed efficiently and on time

  • Management of tender documents, appraisals and negotiations

  • Co-ordination and sign off on all management information produced by project management teams prior to issue

  • Manage the delivery of project management team outputs, in accordance with agreed timescales and quality standards

  • You will ensure strong relationships are developed with clients and members of the cross-functional team

  • Be the primary interface with AECOM clients (New and Existing)

  • Business development will be an important part of your role as you will need to identify opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross- selling opportunities

  • Ensure all staff members reporting to you have current and relevant training

Minimum Requirements

  • Professionally qualified or working towards qualification with one of the following: RICS, APM, CIOB, Prince2

  • Experience of working within a client organization, either directly or through a co-location/secondment arrangement

  • Experience of managing other Project Managers or project team members such as controls, planning and Risk

  • You must be NEC accredited and have a good working knowledge of NEC suite of contracts, particularly the Professional Services Contract (PSC) and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC)

  • Experience working for a consultancy essential

  • Experience with NEC3 and/or NEC4 essential

  • Experience as an ECC PM essential

  • Demonstrable experience as a PM on multi-million £ projects

  • Experience of working as part of integrated, multi-organisation, collaborative teams

  • Extensive Infrastructure and project management experience at a senior level.

  • Experience managing one or more very complex project, e.g. national clients, multidiscipline services or projects that involve litigation, due diligence, environmental protection etc

  • Highly motivated and with excellent industry network

  • You must be able to demonstrate a high level of oral and written communication as well as presentation, meeting leadership and stakeholder management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership of the Association of Project Managers (MAPM), or equivalent

  • Degree level qualification in Construction Project Management, Construction, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, or similar relevant construction degree

  • NEC ECC accreditation preferred

  • Water sector experience preferred
