AECOM BIM Specialist in St Albans, United Kingdom
Job Summary
The BIM Technician will be part of the South East Structures team and will require regular travel to the St Albans office.
Role Responsibilities
Individual will be able to lead projects and work to set deadlines with minimal supervision. They will demonstrate strong communication and personal effectiveness skills, with the ability to maintain effective working relationships at all levels. Proven experience in structural Revit/BIM modelling, including the delivery of structural projects from concept to construction. Knowledge and experience of modelling reinforced concrete, masonry, steelwork and timber framed buildings. Experience of co-ordinating building structures models with the other disciplines (Architect and MEP engineer etc). A good understanding of cloud-based applications for sharing/reviewing models (ACC / BIM360).
Develop and manage BIM data rich models to meet the required BIM use including design document production and co-ordination, under broad direction from the project team or Project Manager and minimal support from the BIM Leads. 3D Models should be of sufficient integrity to enable accurate scheduling, and able to create high quality detailed documentation.
Manage and document control in-coming/out-going models & drawing information, using project extranets and CDE’s, to comply with the project requirements
Experience of co-ordinating building structures models with the architect and MEP engineer and be willing to attend BIM Co-ordination meetings
Manage their workload and be accountable for ensuring that deliverables are of the necessary quality expected of them. Ensuring proper QA/QC protocols are implemented
Minimum Requirements
Ability to prepare models, drawings and details fit for purpose
Ability to implement BIM Execution Plans and BIM Standards with minimal support
Strong understanding of BIM, multi-discipline design development, construction documents, technical and engineering knowledge
Strong knowledge and experience of authoring applications such as such as Revit (Primary), AutoCAD and Navisworks
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
The ability to understand construction methods and manufacturing processes.
The ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances whilst maintaining a clear view of overall priorities.
The ability to work under pressure and ensure deadlines are met, whilst delivering high quality work.
The ability to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and clients.
The ability to work as part as a team both collaboratively and co-operatively.
Desirable
Achieved or be working towards their TIStructE or EngTech status
Prior use of project extranets/CDE’s such as Asite, 4 projects or ProjectWise etc.
Knowledge of Eurocodes, British standards and other relevant national and international industry standards and procedures.
Knowledge of the UK BIM Framework, ISO19650 suite of documents and relevant PAS 1192 documents to allow implementation of AECOM best practice procedures and protocols.
Have a knowledge of Dynamo/Rhino/Grasshopper
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant qualification such as HNC, but not essential.
