We are currently recruiting for a Senior CAD Technician to join our busy and expanding Bridges team in our centrally located Bristol office.
Our Bristol office has an established track record of successfully delivering major transport schemes. Our modern office in the heart of Bristol is within easy reach of Temple Meads, Harbourside and Cabot Circus and comprises a vibrant and diverse mix of sectors and disciplines including Buildings & Places, Environment, Programme Cost Consulting and a large Transportation team including both Rail and Bridges disciplines. The team provides design, assessment, inspection, repair / remediation, construction support and management services on a wide range of transport infrastructure projects.
Our Bristol bridges office forms part of a region of bridges teams comprising Birmingham, Bristol & Cardiff with a combined 70+ strong presence of bridge engineers and technicians working seamlessly to deliver a wide range of challenging projects.
Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local, national and international bridges and structures projects in both rail and road including numerous long-term frameworks.
A selection of our current and recent projects includes:
CORMAC:- AECOM appointed as ‘strategic delivery partner’ as consultants providing numerous transportation services including bridges to Cornwall County Council on behalf of CORMAC schemes include bridge replacement and structures remediation.
Network Rail Western maintenance:- AECOM routinely engaged to undertake remediation works to Network Rail’s structures assets works includes, scoping reports, options reports, investigation findings reports and remedial strengthening and/or repairs through F001 to F003.
South Gloucestershire PSF framework:- AECOM appointed as consultants for the PSF Framework undertaking structures examinations, assessments, investigations and remedial works to highways structures.
Civils Assessment Framework Agreement (CAFA):- AECOM appointed across five routes for the CAFA framework contracts. Our Bristol team supports the LNW route in undertaking Level 1 & Level 2 assessments of overbridges, footbridges and underbridges to a multitude of structural materials and structure forms.
SWTRA (South Wales Trunk Road Agent):- AECOM appointed as consultants for SWTRA provide engineering technical solutions to many aspects of the motorways, trunk roads and associated assets throughout the South Wales region.
Forder Valley:- We are current designing a four span semi-integral pre-stressed concrete structure on behalf of Plymouth City Council over the Bircham Valley to connect Brest Road with the new large signalised junction of Forder Valley Road and Novorossiysk Road.
As a Senior CAD/BIM Technician you will have the following daily responsibilities:
Creating CAD/BIM set-ups, including liaising with clients and architects regarding CAD protocols and standards.
Production of structural and bridge detailing drawings both for highway and railway schemes.
Production of 2D and 3D design models using industry standard modelling applications from Bentley and Autodesk.
Use of BS1192 relevant standards.
Use of LoD and the requirements required to align Models accordingly to the appropriate LoD.
Prepare RC and steelwork details.
Help in CAD/BIM software maintenance.
Responsible for checking of models, details and schedules.
Developing and delivering BIM models and 2D extractions.
Mentoring junior CAD/BIM technicians.
Ideally you’ll be working towards ITech or equivalent.
Experience of working as a CAD/BIM Technician within a Bridges team.
Ability to produce all 2D and 3D design information required for any type of structure.
Experienced with CAD and Revit.
Experienced in RC detailing.
AECOsim experience is highly desirable but training can be provided on this.
Knowledge and experience of BS1192 relevant standards would be preferable.
- Educated to HNC level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
