We are actively looking to expand our team with the appointment of an EC&I Engineer. The opportunity is open to candidates from Electrical Graduates with experience who is looking to progress their careers to experienced EC&I Engineers who have been working at this level for some time and are looking for a new challenge. We are looking for staff are highly motivated and who can apply their skills as an individual or as part of a team to deliver projects to the benefit of our Clients. Inherently the projects are multi-disciplinary and may be at any stage in the project life cycle. Our projects range from client consultancy support to complete turn-key solutions.
In addition to EC&I Engineer duties, the successful candidate may be required to both manage and project report on their package of work. Additional responsibilities may include the client interface, preparation of bids and proposals and then managing the delivery of the projects in accordance with AECOM’s quality, safety and environmental procedures.
Job Description / Role
- EC&I Engineer reporting to the Head of EC&I Engineering at the Warrington office.
You will be responsible for delivery of EC&I design & engineering within that department, including the production of design documentation, design substantiation, as well as checking the work of other engineers & designers.
Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
For this role we would expect you to be:
Experience with a proven track record in the delivery of electrical projects.
Working towards or a Chartered Engineer with the IET.
Extensive relevant experience and be able to demonstrate sound technical knowledge
Full driving license
Your previous experience will demonstrate competency in a number of the following areas:
Competent user of the current version of AutoCAD, a sound understanding of drawing standards and best drawing practice
Functional Design Specification, Basis of Design & User Requirement Specification production
Document and Drawing checking
An appreciation of mechanical / civil and process systems and the aptitude work within a multi-disciplinary team
Deliver project deliverables within timescales, budget constraints and quality expectations.
Fulfill all responsibilities for Health and Safety in Design.
Manage the work load and technical aspects for small teams.
Proven track record of Client interface.
A working knowledge of BS7671 (Essential)
Low Voltage Electrical Distribution Design
Fire Alarm design
Normal / Emergency lighting design
Control and Instrumentation:
Control system design
Design of conventional instrumentation systems (loop diagrams, instrument schedules etc.)
Programmable Logic Controllers hardware /software design
I/O, alarm & trip schedules
Control panel design (GA’s, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, parts lists etc.)
Degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent Qualifications and
Communications systems design (Ethernet and field bus communications)
Access and Security system design
Knowledge of safety standards (IEC 61508, 61511, 61513)
ESQCR Electrical Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002
Client Specific standards (Sellafield, Water Industry, Building Services CIBSE etc.)
BS EN 61439 Switch Gear and Control Gear General Rules
Safety Instrumented Systems (configuration diagrams)
