AECOM Design Manager in Warsaw, Poland

Job Summary

The Design Manager (DM) will ensure consistent delivery of our local and international design projects.

The candidate we are looking for has extensive experience in the design management, a strong client focus and commitment to meet our project objectives such as Quality, Timely delivery, cost & safety.

In this role DM will manage engineering scope of the project in accordance with the contractual requirements and customer expectations. The DM will ensure consistency of technical solutions in projects implemented for repetitive clients and close cooperation with project management team.

Main Tasks:

  • Quality and progress control within the projects to ensure that project documentation is of the required technical standard and delivered according to the agreed internal or contractual milestones and within the budget.

  • Making sure that multidisciplinary design reviews are conducted on projects including safety in design reviews.

  • Ensuring close cooperation with Project Managers.

  • Active communication with internal and project stakeholders regarding the project progress and change management

  • Risk management in the design projects in coordination with project management.

  • Conducting design meetings, weekly progress meetings and quality, safety meetings and make sure that weekly technical meetings are attended by all relevant disciplines.

  • Enhance safety culture in the design

  • Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments in projects.

  • Generally, requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering.

  • Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.

  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.

  • Performs various responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.

  • Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.

  • Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering.

  • Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.

  • Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.

  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.

  • Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

  • Supervises group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Mandatory chartered engineer in Poland

  • Extensive experience in design of industrial and/or military projects

  • Minimum 10 years of experience

  • Mobility - position requires business trips

  • Good understanding of project management and team management

  • Fluent Polish and English (German language would be beneficial)

  • Good co-operation and communication skills

  • Ability to work within complex (international) project structures

  • Experience in multidisciplinary design project is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • ​Master’s degree in engineering related discipline (Civil, Structural or MEP)

  • Experience in military infrastructure preferred
