Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to be based in Warsaw, Poland.
The Mechanical Engineer with experience on Hyperscale Data Center projects to act as Data Center Mechanical Engineer. The job incumbent will be responsible for designing and overseeing the construction of mechanical systems for hyperscale data centers, including HVAC, piping and fire suppression systems. This position is based in Warsaw, Poland, however, is open to other AECOM office locations and remote work under certain circumstances.
The Mechanical Engineer should have the ability to work independently and fulfill design requirements for both small and large projects. The ideal candidate will take the discipline lead on projects involving new facilities, as well as the renovation, modernization, and repurposing of existing buildings. They should possess excellent organizational skills, demonstrate critical thinking, promptly identify issues, and contribute to finding solutions.
Typical Responsibilities:
Be proficient in all aspects of mechanical system design, including HVAC, for projects of all sizes, leading junior engineers in design development and professional growth.
Assist in proposal preparation in conjunction with the senior leadership of the office, write reports for internal and external purposes based on findings, and work cooperatively with managers and other employees to achieve the company's mission.
Ensure discipline plans meet overall project team requirements for project scope and schedule, staying current on codes and technologies relevant to the mechanical (HVAC) discipline.
Handle engineering design (HVAC) from concept through construction administration, conducting research, developing, designing, and specifying mechanical systems, equipment, components, and materials, applying principles and techniques of mechanical engineering.
Organize and conduct site visits to collect data and evaluate mechanical systems, equipment, components, and materials for projects.
Complete assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client-specified criteria and applicable codes and standards, review junior team members' work for quality and training requirements.
Coordinate with multiple disciplines to ensure projects are delivered within budget and on schedule, while managing the mechanical team, including HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing.
Ensure conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.
Review and approve shop drawings and attend client meetings during the construction administration phase.
Project related travel may be required for this position.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Eng or MSc Eng in mechanical building services from an accredited program + 8 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience within a consulting or design-build firm.
Polish Chamber Membership or relevant and equivalent professional body in other countries.
Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and Polish, able to inspire, influence and negotiate
Preferred Qualifications:
Eng or MSc Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering plus twelve (+10) years of relevant experience in mechanical design and/or mechanical engineering, with a focus on data center infrastructure , or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Knowledge and experience with ASHRAE standards, IPC, IMC, and IECC codes
Software: Bently Energy Simulation, AutoCad, MS Office, Instalsoft InstalSystem 5, Revit capabilities (will be additional asset)
Polish driving license cat. B or equivalent honored in EU.
Proficient in all conventional aspects of mechanical engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard mechanical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Experience with BREEAM / LEED and sustainable design projects.
Analyze equipment energy use for optimizing systems.
Ability to work on and lead multiple projects concurrently.
Excellent communication skills: articulate, assertive, and confident.
Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills.
